Charles Mitchell claims Dominican Rep. LNB weekly honour

Experienced American Charles Mitchell (203-F/C-1993) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Reales de La Vega and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 31-year old power forward had the game-high 22 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Reales in his team's victory, helping them to beat Caneros (5-4) 96-81. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Reales is placed at 2nd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Reales will need more victories to improve their 5-4 record. In the team's last game Mitchell had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Reales, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Georgia Institute of Technology graduate has very impressive stats this year. Mitchell is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 7.7rpg) and averages solid 63.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Eloy Vargas (211-C-1988, agency: BIG) of Leones de Santo Domingo. Vargas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds. Of course he led Leones to another comfortable win outscoring Indios (4-5) 99-79. Despite this victory Leones slide down in the standings to 6th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Vargas is one of the most experienced players at Leones and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Richard Bautista (185-PG-1997) of Titanes del Distrito Nacional (#4). Bautista showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Bautista's great performance the Titanes lost 100-106 to #1 ranked Metros. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Titanes needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 5 victories and 5 lost games. Bautista has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.9ppg (4th best), rebounds with 6.9rpg (8th best) and assists with 8.4apg (2nd best). He also has 2.7spg and a FGP of 52.4%.
